With a specific emphasis on helping the people of the Old historic, the ambitious plan seeks to link important historic locations.

Chief Minister Revanth Reddy recently directed NVS Reddy, Managing Director of Hyderabad Metro Rail Limited (HMRL), to work with representatives from the Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) to draft proposals for the large-scale expansion during a review meeting held at the Secretariat in Hyderabad. Routes like MGBS to Airport via Old City, Raidurg to Financial District, LB Nagar to Hayath Nagar, Nagole to New High Court site, and Miyapur to Patancheruvu are among those included in the project.

Road widening from Darulshifa junction to Shalibanda junction and onward Falaknuma are also included in the projected extension. According to Chief Minister Reddy, this would improve connectivity and encourage Old City development, bringing it into line with other parts of the twin cities.

Reddy addressed concerns over religious and cultural buildings and promised to personally intervene to safeguard the 103 properties that had been identified, all the while pressuring authorities to go forward with the development. Notably, the Chief Minister said that the state government had chosen to reconsider the earlier Airport Metro Project and had decided to link MGBS via the Old City.

Reddy emphasized the necessity for cheap construction costs and advised authorities to seek government properties for the same route and promote transit-oriented development. In order to ensure complete development in all directions, he gave HMRL the order to design expansions to the current metro rail tracks.

As part of his strategic plan to turn scattered regions along the Outer Ring Road into development centers, Chief Minister Reddy also plans to link the airport area to Kandukur by metro rail on the Srisailam highway.

Hyderabad’s public transportation system is set to undergo a revolutionary renovation that would provide improved connectivity and citywide growth for its residents.
