Shaakuntalam, a mythological drama written and directed by Gunasekhar, is based on the legend of Shaakuntala, who is portrayed by Samantha Ruth Prabhu. Five languages—Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada, and Hindi—will be used for the film's distribution. The mythical love story film, which stars Samantha and Dev Mohan, is based on a Kalidasa play.
Samantha said that she had first rejected Shaakuntalam back in March. She subsequently agreed to “confront her fears,” which had been bothering her for the previous three years. Samantha said in an interview with TV9, “The opportunity came to me at a time when I had just finished The Family Man 2 filming. I had recently performed Raji, a role that was drastically unlike than Shakuntala in many aspects. Shakuntala is a representation of innocence, dignity, elegance, and purity. On the other hand, Raji was all about being frank and genuine. At that time, I wasn't sure whether I could turn into Shakuntala.
Samantha said that she subsequently signed the project and made the decision to seize the chance. “I have experienced a lot of worry during the last three years. Shakuntala endured a great deal of adversity, yet she handled it all with class and elegance. When I heard about it, I jumped at the chance to face my anxieties.
