<p>Six domestically produced conventional submarines are currently being purchased by the military ministry for the Indian Navy. The submarines will be built in India, and it is anticipated that a considerable amount of indigenous materials would be used.</p>
<p>In order to submit bids for the massive project, state-run Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders Ltd. and German military giant Thyssenkrupp Marine Systems (TKMS) signed a framework agreement last month.</p>
<p>In order to submit a techno-commercial offer for the famous P75 (India) submarine project of the Indian Navy, Larsen & Toubro and Navantia, Spain inked a Teaming Agreement (TA) today, according to a statement from L&T.</p>
<p>At a ceremony in Delhi, the agreement was signed in the presence of Jose Mara Ridao Domnguez, a representative of Spain, Augustin Alvarez Blanco, vice president of Naval Construction, and S N Subrahmanyan, CEO and MD of L&T.</p>
<p>The submarines will be constructed under the much-discussed strategic partnership (SP) approach, which enables indigenous defence manufacturers to collaborate with top international defence conglomerates to create cutting-edge military systems and lessen reliance on imports.</p>
<p>In August, the P-75 India project’s competitive bidding procedure would come to a finish. According to authorities, the defence ministry will probably announce the contract winner by the end of the current year or the beginning of the next one.</p>
<p>The deal stated that Navantia would develop P75(I) submarines based on its S80 class of submarines, the first of which was launched in 2021 and is now undergoing sea trials before being delivered to the Spanish Navy at the end of 2023.</p>
<p>In addition to the S80 class, Navantia collaborated with the French DCNS (now Naval Group) on the design and construction of the Scorpéne class of submarines, which were sold to Chile and Malaysia.</p>
<p>Additionally, Navantia assisted the Indian yard in building the Scorpene submarines (Kalvari class) in India.</p>
<p>Speaking at the event, S N Subrahmanyan expressed his company’s pride in working with Navantia on this renowned initiative that is crucial to the security of the country.</p>
<p>“Navantia’s glorious 300-year history in naval construction and technical expertise gives us a competitive advantage in this programme and allows us to offer the Bio-Ethanol Stealth Technology (BEST) and ecologically friendly Green AIP solution,” he added.</p>
<p>The L&T CEO said, “We are dedicated to offering the most cutting-edge solution for Indian Navy’s needs at a low price.</p>
<p>“It gives us great joy to be in the position to be the design and technology partner for P75(I),” Alvarez Blanco stated. Additionally, we work together with L&T on the much expected Landing Platform Dock (LPD) initiative.</p>
