<p>The debut of the “Income Tax Payment” option on PhonePe’s app was announced on Monday, even though the ITR AY 2023–24 season was in progress. The function eliminates the need to enter into the tax site by enabling taxpayers, including individuals and companies, to pay self-assessment and advance tax straight from inside the PhonePe app.</p>
<p>“To make this option available, PhonePe has teamed with PayMate, a well-known digital B2B payment and service provider. Taxpayers have the option of paying using a credit card or UPI. Depending on their bank, consumers who pay their taxes using a credit card may also benefit from a 45-day interest-free period and reward points on their purchases. Taxpayers will get a Unique Transaction Reference (UTR) number as confirmation of their payment within one working day of making it. <p>The current filing date for the assessment year 2023–2024 is July 31.The most recent information available on the income tax department’s website indicates that 4 crore ITRs for AY 2023–24 have already been submitted. 3.62 billion ITRs have been confirmed out of this total, and 2.13 billion verified ITRs have been processed. There are 11.39 crore unique registered users in total.</p>

<p>Step 1: Launch the PhonePe app and choose the “Income tax” icon from the homepage.</p>
<p>Step 2: Choose the tax type you want to pay, the assessment year, and your PAN card information.</p>
<p>Step 3: Calculate the total tax due and choose your chosen method of payment.</p>
<p>Step 4: Within two working days of a successful payment, the money will be deposited to the tax portal.</p>
